To Congressman Costello:
Today’s medicines are extending people’s lives and delivering cures we never imagined. But it isn’t easy. It takes years of research, billions of dollars and many attempts to discover life-saving treatments.
These innovations are giving people more time. And nothing is more important than that.
Just ask Rob Long, who grew up in Downingtown. As a college senior, just 22 years old with a promising future in professional football, he was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a peach in his brain. Rob had surgery and went through chemotherapy -- that included a new, breakthrough drug -- and radiation treatment.
Today Rob is cancer free.
After graduating from Syracuse University, Rob returned to the area where he is committed to advocating for the need to fund and find new, life-saving cures.
We’re at a crossroads. We must continue to support our biotechnology industry, or we’ll jeopardize future innovation and cures. At this moment, biotech companies are poised to seize the moment and accelerate work toward a cure for cancer.
There is no better reason to push harder for cures. Rob Long can tell you that. With your continued support, we can fulfill the promise of tomorrow’s innovations.
