Victory! Professor on Leave After Racist Comments
Joanne Berger-Sweeney, Trinity College President : Terminate Johnny Eric Williams, Trinity College Professor
This petition is now closed.
must second the petition already made by Republican House Leader Themis Klarides and State
Senator George Logan to Mrs. Joanne Berger-Sweeney - Trinity College President
- for the immediate termination of Professor Johnny Eric
Williams. His reprehensible suggestions
that white people in general need to “die” and that they be confronted for
their white supremacist attitudes and mores goes beyond any imaginable level of
social discourse. Professor Williams should not be given a pulpit at a
reputable school to continue spewing his hate and negatively influencing young Americans.
To Joanne Berger-Sweeney, Trinity College President:
As a parent of a future college student who had considered Trinity College, among several quality and high ranked educational institutions, I am deeply disappointed by your strangely soft response regarding the actions of Associate Professor Johnny Eric Williams. As the second-oldest college in the state of Connecticut, Trinity as a reputation to uphold.
It’s dishonorable to condone or even attempt to rationalize Professor Williams’ disgusting online comments, undoubtedly made more horrific by his terrible timing, as they were made hours after the shooting in Alexandria. Professor Williams should not be given a pulpit, at a reputable school such as yours, to continue spewing his hate and negatively influencing young Americans.
I sincerely hope that as Trinity College’s President you take this petition seriously and terminate Professor Johnny Eric Williams employment immediately. Please consider not only the damage already made to your school’s reputation, but also the incredible damage this person can inflict to current and future students’ character and integrity.
