49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has started a trend of sitting out the national anthem. More players are sitting or kneeling instead of standing up and whoing respect for a country that pays them millions of dollars to play a sport that they love.
It’s extremely disrespectful to sit during the national anthem. Professional athletes are supposed to be role models for
our children and this is setting a terrible example.
They have a responsibility to
show some respect to the country that allows them to live such a charmed life.
It’s an abomination that any professional athlete would bite the hand that
feeds them in such a brash and disrespectful way.
Sign this petition to tell the NFL to require all players to
respect their country and stand for our national anthem!
Your rubber-stamping of former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has emboldened even more players to sit out the national anthem. 12 Cleveland Browns players kneeled for the anthem during their first 2017 preseason game; some sources say they knelt to pray.
If the trend continues, you'll soon be the sports league where every player sits out our national anthem. Players have figured out a quick and easy way to get attention from a sympathetic media, and it's taking a moment of American pride and turning it into a personal spectacle.
When football players disrespect this country in solidarity with an anti-police movement, you stay silent. This is a slap in the face to all of our uniformed heroes who risk (and often lose) their lives to keep Americans safe.
You must require all NFL players to show proper respect for their country by standing for our national anthem and keep political antics off the field.
